Uh oh, stuck like glue, you and me baby we’re stuck like glue

So the title is actually lyrics to a love song, but what if you change the perspective a bit and apply it to where you are in life? Have you been in the same job doing the same thing over and over again? Is that where you want to be in life? Maybe you’re happy where you’re at, but it’s not what you wanted to be when you were younger. What about personally? Are you still living with your parents at 30 (I am, but they are living with me out of medical need instead of choice)? Did you imagine yourself with your family situation at this particular age? Where did you want to live? What types of hobbies did you think you would be into?
People’s priorities change and desires ultimately evolve over time. It’s one of those things that happen naturally with aging. Unless you are a perennial partier, then there’s less desire for meaningless surface social interactions (such as a bar) and more desire for close, deeply felt relationships with people (like a spouse) when you get older. Whether those developments and changes are societally based, people making those adjustments because ‘that’s just what they are supposed to do’ or because of some function of brain chemistry, I don’t know.
I can really only speak to myself regarding the above, but I certainly never thought I would be working at the same company for over ten years, especially since my history of employment was a new job every 6 months before this. I never thought I’d be working in the finance/money realm of a company either, but it’s funny how opportunity and evolution changes what you want to do. There are definitely areas in my life where I feel stuck, and there might be some in your own. Using a thought from my last entry: Are you willing to put in the WORK to change it?
One of my first postings was about being comfortable where you are in life. That’s a little different than feeling stuck. People generally don’t like it when they feel stuck with something, and I’m no exception. However, just like accidentally super gluing your fingers together (which I’ve done), or lips together (which I’ve also done), it’s work and pain to make those changes.
