‘Tis the season to travel

Given that the Holidays are fast approaching (Thanksgiving is my fav), people like to travel to visit family…or get away from them, whichever suits. I personally am traveling to NYC to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to complete a bucket list item for my mom. Between her and her husband, mine and my sister’s family all meeting in this city for this event, we are having to coordinate and arrange travel for a total of 12 people. Some people may be full-time travelers, but I do not have that life so I had to do some research to figure out the best way to coordinate and move that many people.

Some travel tips I found courtesy of Orbitz are:

Minimize-You never wear all the clothes you think you will need, so try to only pack the clothes you know you will need.

Organize your bag-One of the most important pieces about getting the most out of your travel plans is staying organized. Keep track of tops/bottoms and separate his from hers. This also helps you keep track of things to make sure nothing goes missing under a hotel bed.

Wait to pack-Packing is the last thing you should do. Many people want to pack first thing when they need to leave, only to find that they packed something that they need to get ready, like a razor, toothbrush or socks. Avoid the temptation to pack first thing and save yourself some time.

Organize your technology-Get a cord organizer to keep all your chargers in one place. Many people travel with phones, laptops, and tablets, and when it’s more than just you, the cords you have to keep track of multiply quickly. With a cord organizer, you can make sure you don’t forget an important charger like a camera’s.

Leave some room-If there’s one thing I’ve found the hard way, it’s to leave some room when packing. Whenever you travel, you are bound to return with more stuff than you left with because you have to buy souvenirs for every little Parker, Mary and Jeffery in your family. When you pack, planning to leave room for those items, you don’t have to scramble to stuff your bag when you inevitably pick them up.

I found those tips to be particularly useful, and will be using them during my upcoming travel plans. I hope they help my readers too.
