This above all: to thine own self be true.

Everyone I know and I’m sure most people have, at one point or another, felt overwhelmed in life. The causes can range from workload to personal struggles and strife, and when it occurs, everyone experiences the unpleasant and helpless sensation of being overwhelmed. This blog isn’t about practical guides on time or stress management skills since I’m no where near qualified enough to offer advice in that direction. Rather than a self-help angle on being able to accomplish more to reduce feeling overwhelmed, I’d rather focus on something everyone can do instead of the few that have the self-discipline to put those ideas to good use.
Let’s talk about self-awareness. The only person that can help you with this is yourself. How you approach this is entirely up to you and it’s a journey only you can take. Suffice to say, self awareness is more than being able to communicate your current emotional state or physical well-being. It’s an awareness of your actions before they occur, directing your mind in positive rather than negative directions, and allowing yourself mistakes without being self-critical of them. When you become self-aware while being overwhelmed, you can control your attitude and therefore your emotional and physical response to whatever the cause is. Rather than anxiety and depression, you can grow determined and competitive. Instead of procrastinating and becoming lazy, you may become serene and productive.
Self-awareness of how you are thinking and responding in your circumstances allows you to dictate those thoughts and responses. Do you fold under the pressure like sand in an ocean and let the pressure move you around however it pushes? Or are you like a rock on the ocean floor, the pressure moves around you and while it can wear on you, you personally aren’t being moved in the direction it’s flowing, choosing to remain steadfast and firm in your own decisions. Every person will approach it differently and some may even consider it beyond their ability, but I promise, every single person can become self-aware enough to stop letting the situation dictate to them how to think, act and feel.
There is one thing you never have to worry about however. When you work with R&R, we will shoulder your whole burden of supplying your office with everything you need; breakroom, cleaning, paper, general office, and toner supplies. Many of our customers remember that the R&R stood for Ribbons and Rolls in honor of how our company started, but feel free to read it as Rest and Relaxation, because we’ve got you covered.
