Cross Fit? Mo’ like cross train!

Have you ever been the only person in your department or office? What happens to the job when you aren’t there? Where does the work go? Was your company organized enough to cover the work gap, or did you have a huge pile of backlog work to catch up on when you returned? If your job and company are anything like mine, the answer to that really depends on the department you work in.
One of the worst things we can do as people is stop growing, as people or employees. Learn new things about your company and actively try to cross train into other departments. Take courses to learn a new language. Always try to better yourself in some way. When you broaden your horizons like that, the urge to say “that’s not my job” (which happens to be a personal pet peeve) will lessen, because you will want to learn that job duty, or show your employer you are a team player to help the company in any way. One of the owners of my company says this phrase regarding company revenue: “If you aren’t growing, you’re dying”.
So pause for a moment and think: How am I growing, or am I dying?
